Dating back to 1228 and once the estate of the Guinness family, the luxurious 5 Star Ashford Castle first opened as a hotel in 1939. Ashford Castle is set on the northern shores of Lough Corrib admidst acres of beautiful gardens and forests. Once the country estate of Lord Ardilaun and The Guinness Family, it was transformed into a luxury hotel in 1939. The Castle's Great Hall is lavishly decorated with rich paneling, fine period pieces, Objects D'art and masterpiece paintings.
