KILKENNY – WATERFORD Today you travel to Kilkenny, undoubtedly Ireland’s loveliest inland city. Visit Kilkenny Castle, built in the 13th century and home to the powerful Butler family for almost 600 years. You will have time to explore this town on your own. In medieval times this was a prosperous trading center and the narrow streets still follow ancient routes. Onwards to the renowned Waterford Crystal Visitor Experience, watch master craftsmen at work in the centuries-old tradition of glass cutting and engraving. The “Experience” will take you through the fascinating journey through Waterford’s heritage, from 1783 to present day. Afterwards, vist Reginald's Tower, the oldest civic urban structure in Ireland and has played a pivotal role in the country's history. The precursor of this tower is believed to be Dundory, a Viking fortification built on this site during the 10th century. It was also used as a mint, prison and military store. It has been restored and now houses an exhibition. Afterwards, return to your hotel.
